NEW YORK, April 23, 2014 — The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian), one of the nation’s largest mutual life insurers and a leading provider of employee benefits, today announced it has appointed Marc Costantini Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He succeeds Robert Broatch who is retiring from the company after serving as CFO for the past 12 years. Mr. Costantini will report to Deanna Mulligan, Guardian’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Costantini brings over 25 years of experience in both financial and business management to Guardian. He most recently served as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy at Manulife Financial Corporation and was a member of Manulife’s Management Committee. Mr. Costantini was previously CFO of John Hancock and President of John Hancock Annuities.
Mr. Costantini received his Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Concordia in Montreal. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries, Canadian Institute of Actuaries and a member of the Academy of Actuaries.
